Departure from Gabès and immersion in Berber architecture

Your day will begin with a pick-up from your place of stay in Gabès.

You will begin your journey by visiting the magnificent Ksar Ouled Soltane, an impressive example of Berber architecture. Then, you will discover the Ksar Beni Barka, another masterpiece of the art of earthen construction.

After a morning full of discoveries, you will take a lunch break in a traditional restaurant located in the village of Guermassa.

You can enjoy local specialties while admiring the surrounding landscape.

In the afternoon, you will depart for a guided tour of the village of Chenini, where you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Berber culture and history.

DISCOVERY OF DJEBEL DAHAR

Trek between Chenini and Douiret – A walk in the heart of Dahar

Then you will begin a two-hour trek in the mountains to reach the village of Douiret.

You will appreciate the natural beauty of the area throughout your walk.

NIGHT IN A TROGLODYTE COTTAGE

Once you arrive in Douiret, you will settle into a troglodyte lodge for the night.

You will have the opportunity to live a unique experience by sleeping in these traditional dwellings dug into the rock.

DISCOVERY OF THE DESERT AT KSAR GHILANE

Exploration of Ksar Ghilane and relaxation in the hot spring

Wake up, breakfast, free time to admire the surrounding desert valleys, then departure towards Ksar Ghilane.

In Ksar Ghilane you will have free time to explore the area and relax in the natural hot spring heated to 32°.

If you wish, you can also enjoy a quad bike ride (optional) to explore the surroundings at high speed,
or opt for a camel ride for a more traditional experience.

NIGHT IN A SAHARIAN CAMP UNDER THE STARS

A magical night in the desert and discovery of Saharan traditions

After lunch in a restaurant located at the foot of the dunes, you will leave Ksar Ghilane by track and head towards the camp in the desert.

There you will have free time to relax and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the desert.

Before dinner, you will also attend a demonstration of sand bread baking, a fascinating traditional technique.

You will spend the night in a private tent in the desert, where you can admire the stars and soak up the tranquility of the place.

DISCOVERY OF MATMATA AND THE TROGLODYTE HOUSES

Return via Tamezret and Matmata – A journey through time

The next day, after breakfast, you will depart for Tamezret, where you will visit the Berber Museum to learn more about the culture and history of the region.

Then you will have the opportunity to have lunch at a local's house in Tamezret, where you can taste the local cuisine and interact with the locals.

Your next stop will be Matmata, famous for its troglodyte houses.

You will have the chance to visit one of these houses and learn more about the way of life of the inhabitants.

Then it will be the end of this 3-day tour in the southern region of Tunisia, you will return to Gabès where you will be dropped off in front of your place of stay, at the end of the afternoon around 5:30 p.m.

BERBER AND DESERT CIRCUIT PROGRAM

Day 1:

Pick up at your place of stay in Gabès.
Visit of Ksar Ouled Soltane.
Visit of Ksar Beni Barka.
Lunch break in a restaurant in the village of Guermassa.
Guided tour of the village of Chenini and 2 hour trek in the mountains to reach the village of Douiret.
Installation and dinner in a troglodyte gite.

Day 2:

Visit of the village of Douiret.
Departure for Ksar Ghilane by track or road depending on the season.
Free time for visit and bath in the hot spring.
Optional: Quad ride €30/h or camel ride €15/h.
Lunch in a restaurant at the foot of the dunes.
Departure by the track for the camp.
Installation, free time in the desert.
Demonstration of baking sand bread.
Dinner and accommodation in a private tent in the desert.

Day 3:

Departure for Tamezret, Visit of the Berber museum.
Homestay lunch in Tamezret.
Matmata visit of a troglodyte house at the inhabitant.
Return to Gabès and drop off at your place of stay
