Your day will begin with a pick-up at your place of stay in Gabes. You will begin your journey by visiting the magnificent Ksar Ouled Soltane, an impressive example of Berber architecture. Then you will discover the Ksar Beni Barka, another masterpiece of the art of earth construction.
After a morning rich in discoveries, you will have a lunch break in a traditional restaurant located in the village of Guermassa.
You can taste local specialties while admiring the surrounding landscape.
In the afternoon, you will leave for a guided visit to the village of Chenini, where you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in Berber culture and history.
Then, you will begin a two-hour trek in the mountains to reach the village of Douiret. You will appreciate the natural beauty of the area throughout your walk.

Once you arrive in Douiret, you will settle in a troglodyte lodge for the night. You will have the opportunity to live a unique experience by sleeping in these traditional dwellings carved into the rock.

 

After breakfast, you will visit the village of Douiret and discover its cultural heritage.
Then, you will leave in the direction of Ksar Ghilane, taking either the track or the road, depending on seasonal conditions.
At Ksar Ghilane you will have free time to explore the area and relax in the natural hot spring.
If you wish, you can also enjoy a quad ride (optional) to explore the surroundings at high speed, or opt for a camel ride for a more traditional experience.
After lunch in a restaurant located at the foot of the dunes, you will leave Ksar Ghilane by the track and head towards the camp in the desert.
There you will have free time to relax and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the desert.
You will also watch a demonstration of sandbread baking, a fascinating traditional technique.
You will spend the night in a private tent in the desert, where you can admire the stars and soak up the tranquility of the place.
 
After breakfast, you will depart for Tamezret, where you will visit the Berber Museum to learn about the culture and history of the region.
Then, you will have the opportunity to have lunch with the locals in Tamezret, where you can taste the local cuisine and interact with the locals.
 
Your next stop will be Matmata, famous for its cave houses. You will have the chance to visit one of these houses and learn more about the way of life of the inhabitants.
Finally, you will return to Gabès where you will be dropped off at your place of stay, at the end of the afternoon around 5:30 p.m.

  Day 2

  • Visit of the village of Douiret.

  • Departure for Ksar Ghilane by track or road depending on the season.

  • Free time for visit and bath in the hot spring.

  • Optional: Quad ride €30/h or camel ride €15/h.

  • Lunch in a restaurant at the foot of the dunes

  • Departure by the track for the camp,

  • Installation, free time in the desert.

  • Demonstration of baking sand bread.

  • Dinner and accommodation in a private tent in the desert.

  Day 3

  • Departure for Tamezret, Visit of the Berber museum

  • Homestay lunch in Tamezret.

  • Matmata visit of a troglodyte house at the inhabitant.

  • Return to Gabès and drop off at your place of stay
