TWO-DAY EXCURSION TO KSAR GHILANE: NIGHT IN THE DESERT DEPARTURE FROM TOZEUR

Departure for the crossing of Chott El Jerid towards Douz, where we will have the opportunity to visit the petrified dunes.

These sand formations, having been submerged during the floods, offer a fascinating natural spectacle.

We will have a lunch break in a restaurant in Douz, before continuing our journey to Ksar Ghilane.
Depending on the season, we will take either the track or the road to reach this oasis. Ksar Ghilane, one of the gateways to the Tunisian Sahara desert,
is fed by a spring that irrigates the palm grove.

You will be able to discover the way of life of the nomadic families who live
the exploitation of the date palm and the breeding of goats and sheep. As an option, you can choose to take a camel ride
or by quad to visit the ancient Roman fort of Tisavar.

Then, we will take the track for a distance of 20 km to reach our comfortable Saharan camp.
You can relax and enjoy a convivial evening in the desert, where you will have dinner and spend the night in an individual tent.

The next morning, after savoring a moment of calm in
the desert, we will start the way back to Tozeur.
Before resuming the road, we will stop for lunch in Douz.

Then, we will leave for the canyon of Sidi Bouhlel, an emblematic place used as a setting in several films, including Star Wars.

After these two busy days, we will drop you off at your place
stay in Tozeur, leaving you with unforgettable memories of this adventure in the heart of the desert.

Two days excursion to Ksar Ghilane

 PROGRAM

 Day 1

  • Departure from your place of stay in Tozeur in a 4x4 towards Douz via the salt lake, Chott El Jérid.

  • Visit of the irrigation system of the palm grove.

  • Visit the petrified dunes.

  • Lunch in Douz

  • Departure by track or road depending on the season, for Ksar Ghilane, an oasis surrounded by immense sand dunes. 

  • Possibility of camel or quad rides (optional).

  • Bathing in the hot spring. (Optional)

  • Departure for the night in the desert, in the Saharan camp

  • Dinner and overnight in private tents.

 

Day 2

  • Breakfast and free time in the dunes.

  • Departure by track or road depending on the season, for Douz.

  • Douz lunch.

  • Departure for the Canyon of Sidi Bouhlel by the Chott El Jerid.

  • Return to Tozeur and drop off at your place of stay.
