Have you ever dreamed of following in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia, crossing the desert on the back of a camel? We suggest you live a day as a nomad, during a camel trek in the Tunisian desert at Ksar Ghilane.
We will leave early in the morning from your hotel in Zarzis, to reach Ksar Ghilane. Our camel drivers will be there, ready with everything you need to prepare your lunch in the middle of the ocher desert dunes.
After an introduction to camel riding, you will embark on a 3-hour ride in the soothing silence of the desert. Your camel drivers will prepare a delicious lunch for you.
Then you will leisurely return to Ksar Ghilane, where your 4X4 will be waiting for you for the return trip to Zarzis.
We also offer a day trip, including a one-hour camel ride and one-hour quad ride, followed by lunch at the restaurant at the foot of the dunes.
Ksar Ghilane
The southernmost of the Tunisian oases and one of the gateways to the desert of the Tunisian Sahara, the oasis is fed by a hot spring at 32° in which one can bathe and which would have virtues thermal.
As its name suggests (ksar means castle), not far away of Ksar Ghilane a fort dating from Roman times,Tisavar, located on the edge of the desert.
The Tunisian government proposed it on February 17, 2012 for a future classification on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
One kilometer to the east there is a stele, which bears witness to the passage of General Leclerc and his army in 1943 during the battle of Ksar Ghilane.
It bears the following inscription:“Here, from February 23 to March 10, 1943, General Leclerc and Force L, coming from Chad, victoriously supported the assault of the enemy forces, inflicting severe losses on them. »

CAMEL RIDING IN KSAR GHILANE DEPARTURE FROM ZARZIS UNFORGETTABLE 3 HOURS EXPERIENCE IN THE DESERT
Experience an unforgettable camel trek in the Ksar Ghilane desert, for three hours of walking immersed in the soothing silence of the Sahara.
The transfer from your place of stay in Zarzis is planned early in the morning, then direction Ksar Ghilane. Enjoy a coffee and photo break in a café lost in the middle of the desert, a place out of time.
Upon your arrival at the oasis of Ksar Ghilane, our camel guides and their dromedaries will be there to welcome you. It's time to set off on a three-hour hike through the ocher sand dunes.
Your camel driver will prepare a typical Tunisian lunch for you in the desert: a Tunisian salad, grilled meats and bread baked in the sand.
Then, return to Zarzis in 4X4, where you will be dropped off at your hotel. A day rich in emotions, in the heart of the Tunisian desert, which you will not soon forget.
