7 days circuit in the desert in trek with camels
in the heart of the great Erg Oriental in southern Tunisia
Day 1: Transfer from Zarzis to Douz
In the morning, you will be transferred by 4X4 from Zarzis to Douz, either from your place of stay or from the airport. Along the way, you will break for lunch. Once you arrive in Douz, you will spend the night in a hotel room.
Day 2: Tembaine Mountain
After breakfast, you will go by 4x4 to the Tembaine mountain crossing the desert by a track. In Tembaine, you will join the camel drivers and their dromedaries. After lunch, you will start your camel trek. You will spend your first night in the desert.
Days 3-6: Trek
During the following days, you will continue your trek through the desert. You'll progress at a leisurely pace, alternating between lunches, dinners, and campfire vigils, as well as nights spent under the stars. You will pass through varied landscapes, including sand dunes, "bathtubs" (stony desert) and other formations.
Lunches will be picnics in bivouac in the desert.
Day 4: Lake Houidath Erreched
In the late afternoon of the fourth day, we will finally reach Lake Houidath Erreched, a secluded oasis surrounded by towering sand dunes. You will have the opportunity to bathe in the spring before installing the bivouac for the night. A delicious meal under the stars will be prepared for you.
Day 5-6-7: Lake Houidath Erreched to Mount Tembaine.
The next morning, we will leave by another route to join in 3 days of trek, our 4x4 which awaits us in Tembaine.
We will return to Zarzis via Douz.

7 DAYS TREK IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT NIGHTS IN BIVOUACS DEPARTURE FROM ZARZIS
You will be picked up at your place of stay in Zarzis or at Djerba airport. Transfer from Zarzis to Douz, where you will spend the night at the hotel. You can rest and prepare for your adventure in
the desert.
Day 2: Departure to the desert After breakfast, you will depart
from Douz in 4x4 by tracks and dunes up to the mountain
on the Tembaine plateau (about 4 hours journey).
Once there, you will meet your Bedouin guides and their dromedaries, who left Douz three days before. You will have lunch in the desert before starting your first stage
hiking with camels.
You will spend the night in tents in the desert and share
dinner around the campfire.
Days 3 and 4: Trek in the desert. After breakfast, you will leave for your desert trek. The caravan will cross the dunes of the Grand Erg Oriental, letting the position of the sun determine your schedule.
The daily stages will vary from 10 to 20 km and will last from 3 to 6 hours of walking, with lunch breaks along the way.
The evenings will be spent around the campfire, offering a convivial moment of exchange and sharing.
The camels will be loaded and unloaded twice a day to
the camp. The nights will be spent under the stars in the desert.
In the late afternoon of the fourth day, you will reachLake Houidhat Erreched, a hot spring lake surrounded by high dunes.
You will spend the evening and morning of the fifth day at this exceptional place, allowing you to enjoy the scenery and relax in the thermal spring whose water reaches a temperature of over 30 degrees.
After lunch, you will leave Lake Houidhat Erreched and take the path of the dunes. You will collect wood for the campfire and enjoy the calm and serenity of the desert.
On the seventh day, the plateau mountain of Tembaine will come into view, and you will have your last lunch in the desert.
After greeting your camel drivers, you will return to Douz by 4x4, then you will be transferred to your place of stay in Zarzis or Djerba airport.
